HOW IT WORKS

The DT64 combines a Digital Tachometer, a series of 8 Shift Lights and manually operated Lap Timer in one neat display. Powered by the 12 volts from the car or bike, it will function on most four stroke 1,2,4,5,6 or 8 cylinder engines with inductive ignition coils. The LCD can display either RPM or Lap Times.

The 8 LED's can be programmed to start and stop at any RPM enabling them to function over a very narrow RPM band. The LED's are programmed from the display allowing very precise setting of the RPM at which the LED's are turned on.

The brightness of the LED's can be adjusted from the display. An optional backlit version of the DT64 is also offered. On this version, an input is provided turn on the LCD backlight for night time use. Applying 12 volts (possibly from the headlamps) will automatically dim the LED's as well as backlight the LCD.

A manual Lap Timer function is built into the DT64. By connecting a switch to the device, laps can be timed manually by the driver pressing the switch each lap. Initially the lap number is displayed for 2 seconds, then the lap time is displayed. This is displayed until a new lap is timed or the display put into RPM mode. Up to 64 lap times are stored in memory which can be recalled in the pits. The DT64 remembers the lap times (and maximum RPM) even if power is removed. The lap times can be recalled when power is restored and are cleared when the engine is started again.

In addition, the DT64 has a dedicated output that can be used to power an external Shift Light.If used, connect this to a 12 volt bulb or LED (with current limiting resistor - about 1K ohms). This output is programmed to operate independantly of the 8 LED's on the display.

The DT64 is supplied with the wiring loom and is simple to install. The loom is connected to a 9 pin D-type connector on the rear of the case.

An optional lap timing switch is offered which plugs directly into the lead exiting the display. The button is mounted in a small plastic box allowing it to be easily velcroed on to the steering wheel or handle bars. On the end of a coiled cable, the box measures 30mm x 20mm.
